2022 was a historical year filled with issues that continue to trickle into 2023. We experienced families struggling with the economy, COVID continuing to leave its mark, and political uncertainty across the nation.
As we struggle to stay positive amidst so much turbulence, I have practiced anchoring myself by focusing on a few of my personal 2022 highlights, which include:
- Leaving my corporate job to re-launch my consulting business, Thelá Thatch Consulting, and launch our non-profit, Time2Dream.
- Traveling to Senegal, Guadalajara, Tulum, El Salvador, and other major cities.
- Speaking and moderating panels for the LA Times and other organizations.
The first 30 days of 2023 have brought more turmoil with the brutal beating of Tyre Nichols and a plethora of race-related shootings nationwide. The workplace continues to face disruption while witnessing significant changes in what employees want and need from their work experience. HR leaders are integral as they support organizations and the needs of their people, who are being forced to navigate societal issues while trying to be productive at work.
More than ever, we need to believe there is good, and we need to “be the good.” This starts with highlighting the best course forward for both business and culture and developing strategies to keep organizational goals connected.
