Women & Black History 365

March 8, 2023by Thela Thatch0

March 8 is International Women’s Day, a global holiday celebrated annually as a focal point in the women’s rights movement, bringing attention to issues such as gender equality and violence and abuse against women. Here’s the thing, at TTC, we recognize Women and Black History 365. We strive to make history as a woman and Black-owned business every day!

As Black women, we can be unnecessarily hard on ourselves. As we strive to serve our clients and meet deadlines, our team decided we wanted to take a breath and pivot. So, we combined our February and March monthly newsletters into one to “get ourselves on track.” Often, it is necessary for your business to stop one thing and start another. Being able to embrace change is crucial for your business’s success.

So, let’s continue to reshape processes and policies in order to provide equity to women and minorities every day of the year. In fact, the practice of good HR principles compels us to build processes that are the foundation for equity. Our firm’s commitment is to keep supporting Black communities, women in the workplace, and marginalized groups because at TTC, that is who we are!

TAKE ACTION! My friend Stacey Gordon, LinkedIn, and Dove have provided an opportunity to support women in a different way: by joining the fight to end hair discrimination in the workplace, schools, and our communities. According to The CROWN Coalition, over 20% of Black women between 25 and 34 years of age have been sent home because of their hair. To address this issue, The CROWN Coalition created the CROWN Act, anti-hair discrimination legislation that has already been enacted in nearly half of the United States. However, the nationwide campaign still needs all hands on deck.

Click here to learn more about the CROWN Act, sign a petition, and complete a specially-curated suite of LinkedIn courses (which also features my course, Diversity Recruiting). As a Women’s-History-Month bonus, each of the courses in this learning path is taught by women!
